Live Until We Die 10/18/12 Underneath my mind is no shadow But a walking human being Some ignore its existence Put in on a short leash Soft, warm and supple Is the swaddling babe When stiff, cold and rigid we’re ready for the grave So many opportunites we have To maximize delight Like a child in a candy store Eyeing every sweet I approach every conversation With hunger not too discrete I crave to ravage life With tongue, body and mind I want to unwrap each tasty piece Intimacy is the prize So many are on a diet Based on silly pride My life’s full of anticipation
of the possible and intrigue While others suffer through expectation Their Truth causes all to freeze Let me bask in the light Warm my body in the light The land of inhibition Dominates many lives We’ve got to live until we die Live until we die
2.
Standard of Deviation 12/13/12 How much difference makes a shade how many shades make a difference How much is part of the terrain How much is sheer resistance Rupture punctures the silence Continuity makes it all the same The close and the distant The familiar and the strange Lately, I sense change in the air Crazy, painting life with some flair Well I just keep jogging and chugging along Feeling the tingle keeping me strong Hazy, is the life lived between So tasty, the mundane and the extreme How much difference makes a shade how many shades make a difference Up to the threshold we make gains Below that, stagnant and insipid vanilla and chocolate the choice is more than two I’ll be your standard of deviation bordering chaos and Truth Pushing to the limit Breaking through your game Dreading repetition while seeking union We want to belong while remaining different We thirst for invention and deride duplication We fear mutation yet demand some variation Our words and feelings in endless permutation A semblance of change provides verification Life plays peek-a-boo, you hide I seek Living life inside two standards of deviation Let me be your standard of deviation Pushing to the limit Breaking through your game Living life inside two standards of deviation Let me be your standard of deviation

Inexhaustible You 11/20/12   There’s so much in life to befriend So much to sense and feel, there is no end Life gets tricky when I’m thinking Pushing hard and I’m blinking Moving further away from the cool inexhaustible you Sometimes you take my breath away In deeply nuanced subtle ways the everyday I take for granted births all meaning and satisfaction I’m content but challenged too, by inexhaustible you So many langauges to speak From Cantoneese, to Danish, Sanskrit and Greek Math, poetry, music, drawing, gesture, design, talking, singing, farming, history, and time humor, dance, religion, fashion, and rhyme symbolic logic and technology, too all express sweet finitude yes, that inexhaustible you I’d be nothing without you you’re in my every thought in all I do finding words, feeling and meaning gives a voice to all I’m living Is the touched and toucher too, inexhaustible you Me and you, sweet inexhaustible Me and you, sweet inexhaustible you

While We Live 8/30/10 It’s not whether you win or lose How much you make or what you do That gives life meaning or soothes one’s soul The moments that please me most That last the longest give me hope Are the times I speak from Or listen to a heart unfold The cooling breezes of heartfelt prose What we see and what we touch If done right can mean oh so much Can fill us up With warming delight There’s no place we need to go Nothing to conquer, overcome or overthrow Just a life Waiting to be written Time passes when you look the other way We’re taught to fight for freedom To defeat cancer and cheat death We’re told to defend our God Our country to our dying breath Our love is for our side Just for our side (such a shame) Eyes see, lungs breathe, ears hear, such a short time Hands touch, minds think, skin feels, a little while Tongues taste, hearts beat, fragrance lingers, a short time bodies tingle, muscles flex, ecstasy lasts a short while We speak, we shout, we sigh, We smile, we stare, we blush We laugh, we cry, we love, a little while Touch with me, listen with me, think with me a little while Watch with me, taste with me, love with me through the night While We Live

Scarlet Fever 8/24/12 Internal fictions give rise to her doubt As I’m walking in she’s pleading “let me out” Look, she’s moving the other way Deeper and deeper she rambles far astray Soon she’s drowning in her dismay Self-loathing she uses to pierce her own skin Conflict is the drug she’s been mainlining Like the blood oozing out of her pores Her pangs will soon be begging for more Drunk from sanguine release Giddily she drops to her knees She smiles like everything’s fine Deep down she desperately yearns to die Lost in the valley of her regrets Her eyes turn ice cold and quite vacant She’s breathing yet barely alive All she see’s is in scarlet All she feels leaves her so depressed Her blood cries to rush outside She’s lost in scarlet fever’s dreams She’s bleeding her scarlet fever dream She’s quite dizzy with relief Yet, the pressure is never fully released She’s both princess and the beast Scarlet fever is her only remedy Dreaming Scarlet Fever Dreams Endless streams of Scarlet Fever Dreams

The Day She Died 3/17/11 Even as a child I knew I wanted love While others dreamt of power, I craved deep conversation Chaos at home I found comfort anew In a young womans arms lost in her fragarance I searched many years for the spring of my delight When I found her I was a dormant seed that sprouted in the light Grew in her light The years passsed on by, I shared everything I lost my sense of space of where I ended and she began Every night I held her my anchor and my joy The world forever changed as we became more the same She was a garderner in so many ways Life thrived in her presence I did the same Each and every day I sit alone a phantom in the dark I lost my skin, my eyes, my ears my heart I have no appetite, a world empty and decayed I want stillness let memories flood my brain Yesterday is much more real than is today Memories so vivid, I close my eyes to see The missing parts of me In her gardener's arms I was a tree I was her tree she was my soil Never thought I’d live a day without her Maybe I was right

Earn A Living 4/10/11 Thoughts explode into my mind all the time I don’t know why you pray It’ll happen anyway Only love can stop the pain The time has come to hear the cries and feel the lies Fear and hatred we’ve been fed Those who question we’re taught to dread All who resist will be dead Tell me what you need What you fathom what you feel We need each other A world, a body and a mother We don’t have to earn a living, nor earn this life Life is a gift, we should honor with delight We don’t have to agree to create harmony Just respect basic needs and human dignity Fighters want to fight, lovers want to love The greedy want it all, to own and control Fear and mistrust are just weapons used by the bold To gain our allegiance in their quest for more and more Each day I revel in the beauty and the magic of our lives Each day I think of the starving, the tortured souls filled with strife We shouldn’t have to earn a living, nor earn this life Life is a gift, we should honor with delight We don’t have to agree to foster harmony Just respect basic needs and human dignity How can we sit back and watch? How can we let this happen on our watch? It shouldn’t be about belief It shoud be about relief No one can stop us from loving No one can stop us from caring Only we can stop us from loving
8.
Life Fills My Days 6/15/10 We are all masters of illusion Forging certainty from a handful of clues Whether it be science or religion We forsake what is for eternal Truth its what we do Never satisfied with what is real With our hands, eyes nor ears Even the desire to be in the moment Must get beyond oneself to cosmic union into the blue I’ve always lingered in fascination Simple pleasures are my fuel I never tire of the landscape Every sensation draws me to you Each and every day that passes Ripens some low hanging fruit Drinking in all of their juices Breathe in the aroma of morning dew is my form of truth I’ll swim awhile in your ocean I’ll lie and rest on your soggy shores Feel wet sand cool my backside As evening rays warm my core Life fills my days In sweet subtle ways Life fills my days

Enlightened Psychopaths 12/30/12 He’ll smile at you with such compassion his words are soft you feel protected but I sense a coldness an empty soul He’ll convince you all that he’s the victim That he’d do right in a healthy system but truly he acts according to his goals They heap the praise on the lesser evil Excuse his murders, blame his victims He starves and tortures those who resist him Does this all in the name of freedom A daily kill list he does fashion Silent birds enact this scarlet passion Children die or live in fear For there’s no where to hide no where to go this used to be their land It still is their home No decent man would accept such power No feeling family man could unleash such horror There’s nothing worse than living Seeing your own death Full of pain, torture and suffering To your screams of alarm all are deaf In a sky wreaking surprise death There is no time to surrender There is no explaining That you are mistaken Through out the globe We send our young brave heroes, Who are taught how to hate to become and protect those who murder and rape Enightened psychopaths, they know what’s best Our elected psychopaths, in them we trust

It's Too Late 1/17/13 We’ve built them prisons intended for us Oh, how silly we’ve been When we talk in private we let them listen in Oh, how silly we’ve been They invented villians to gain our consent Oh, how foolish we’ve been We give them our money, our children, our sweat Oh how silly we’ve been Like fish in a barrell there’s no place we can go The fox in the hen house Saying eeni, minee, mo Hollow bullets rip through the door The GPS will find us There’s no place we can go They shut down all the power grids laughing eeni, minee, mo predator drones hover and strike We’re on every camera Heat sensors pierce the floor Our finger prints and retinas give off a fatal glow The raid continues until we are no more They monitor conversation Privacy is no more Each keystroke is documented Our every ebb and flow Nothings safe from their greedy little hands It’s too late, it’s too late we’ve made such a big mistake of that there is little debate The bankers line their pockets as we get the heave ho After each and every bail out our debt bomb does explode The man in the white house bilikng us through hope It’s too late, it’s too late we’ve made such a huge mistake of that there is little debate It’s too late, it’s too late we’ve made such a horrible mistake of that there is little debate It's Too Late

about

The words on this album attempt to capture the passion I feel for life. Yet, words being mainly objects of thought, can only take you so far. Lyrics are like the skeleton and music provides the flesh. Every feeling, every scene is deepened by the richness of sound.

In these songs the vocals speak the emotion of the words, and in most songs the sax is the main voice of the emotions and environments of the music itself.

While the first half of the album is a celebration of the very rich privilege of human experience, the second warns of some of the dangers our current social political world presents.

If the Flesh of Life is to continue to flourish and fill us with ecstasy, we need to treat the flesh with great care.

Come celebrate, savor and taste the Flesh of Life.
