Ya Gotta B Funky, yes you do. So what is funk, and what does it mean to be funky? Funk is officially known as a style of music with its roots in blues and soul. Yet, the irony of funk as a musical form is that it is almost the direct opposite of the older meaning being in a funk, a state of depression.

Funky music puts the fun back into funk. It is energetic, lively, playful, sensual and often times eccentric music that brings a smile to one’s face in its peppy bass lines and bouncy rhythms. Funk is a celebration of our bodies and its ability to sense and be sensual. Funk is getting out of your head, and back into your body. Being funky does not mean being stupid or non thinking, but rather it means keeping your thoughts in the real, in the sensual emotional world where love is an event and experience and not an abstract concept.

This album is about getting funky with yourself and your life. It is about making sure you respect and celebrate your body, its feelings and sensations which are at the heart of all your emotional feelings. So stop making life a concept an ideal, and make it fun and funky y’all.
