What we Live

A) I awake in the dead of night. The blackness along with the stillness and silence creates a starkness ripe for clarity of thought and deep insight. I am awake, content and moved by the simplicity and purity of the moment. The soft breeze wafting through my window is cool, crisp and clean and instantly induces me to take slow deep breaths. My lungs devour the freshest air of the day and find it as invigorating and fulfilling as ripened fruit.

B) Sometimes the most extreme darkness of night fashions the sharpest clarity of thought and feeling. Lying in bed I bathe in the stillness and silence and feel a calm which only starkness can provide. When not distracted by the constant stream of a perceptual field one can arrive at insights based on inner visions. I feel nurtured and cared for by these visions. I inhale deeply the freshest and purest air of the day being ushered in my window by a soft breeze.

These times I wake at night are not caused by restlessness, but are a welcomed bit of meditation and appreciation. After a few minutes of gathering my thoughts and feeling cradled in life itself I will fall back into a deep restful sleep. When awake I pay attention to myself and my experience and therefore I find very little need to be aware of my dreams. Whatever messages they could harbor I trust will be said to me at other times, and therefore, I would rather use my sleep time to recharge my batteries on all levels. Sleep and consciousness are for me the inhale and exhale of my existence, and their separateness allows each to function at their maximum.

When awake and alert I embrace my individuality and revel in my being not just in the world, but of the world. I’m not just connected, but interlaced with the world. I enjoy the feeling of becoming more intimate with myself, others and my surroundings. My sense of history along with the passion I feel for the dawning of each moment fills my life with meaning and joy. Everyone I interact with and the events that fill my life are like mirrors which have me better understand myself and make change and improvement possible.

Without new questions one would not be inspired to find answers. I find myself enthralled by the endlessness of things to learn, savor and ponder and have no desire for certainty or finality. Life seems to be this vast realm between arbitrary chaos and certainty. I like the feeling of my life being this elaborate and multidimensional painting that I continue to paint each and every day, or a puzzle that gains clarity with each piece I find.

What we live fill my days and my heart. It’s my joy, my project and the source of my joy. Many ask what happens when we die, I’m more interested in investigating and feeling what happens when we live.

What we live warms my heart ignites my skin
What we live keeps me coming lets me in
What we live is all I know I end and begin
What we live is where I’m going and where I’ve been
