We live in a consumer based society in which things that are not new or technologically cutting edge are thought of as being outdated and out of fashion. Yet, when it comes to our inner emotional world, meaning and significance is created and maintained by a person or thing having an enduring role and consistency in our life and personal history.
The Pleasure of Your Embrace is a song which celebrates the experience and journey of life. The richness of each experience is maximized by its being felt and processed sensorially as well as its being incorporated into the context of my past history. While my self-conscious ego finds meaning in life by bearing witness to and savoring all that I experience, so to is my life enriched by all that I share with others.
Every event in life no matter how powerful or pleasurable on its own only acquires meaning through being incorporated into the vast context of my life history. Those emotions and experiences which fail to be integrated into my life remain fleeting and transitory.
When younger my desire for passion and sexual intimacy was highly dominated by hormones, a desire to feel viscerally connected. Yet, now after over thirty years of marriage, though my hormonal desire has subsided, my desire for passion still remains. My desire to maximize the moment through being intimate with Dayna physically, emotionally and sensorially is just as strong as ever.
While the thrill of the novel and the new still can be intoxicating, when it comes to intimate relationships the new pales in comparison to a relationship with history and familiarity. Dayna often says, "I am glad that you are part of my life". While I agree with that sentiment I sometimes feel it is more accurate for me to say that "I'm glad to be part of our life".
Though our hormones have waned and our bodies have long passed their visual peaks.......
I can’t imagine another body
My hands would rather touch
or my arms would rather hold
The new and the novel can never compete with the depth forged by years of pleasure, wisdom and intimacy. An intimate relationship never needs to become static of a relic of the past, for each and every day the bond can strengthen making each passionate moment a cherished link in the chain of our sensorial and emotional ecstasy.
I walk about in a state of bliss
The endless joy of making sense of all this
I want to feel the pleasure of your embrace
Be your comfort everyday

The Pleasure of Your Embrace 4/7/10
Mighty is the power of an emotion
It can fill you up or tear you down
It can be as deep and as blue as the ocean
Or drift aimlessly like a billowed cloud
Some let feelings be their master
Jerked about like a puppet on a string
I treat feelings as an artist
Their vast colors paint my being
As I wake I breath in deep
Feel refreshed from my deep sleep
I linger awhile holding you
It sets the mood
provides the glue
for what we do
I feel life dancing at my fingertips
A warm glow pulsing from deep within
I walk about in a state of bliss
The endless joy of making sense of all this
What I feel and what I think
In rich earth tones and relaxing tints
Talk to me of what others seek
I find few answers but plenty of hints
Wallowing
In ecstasy
Is how we live
when we stay
inside the day
find time to play
let love hold sway
Baby, time is a fire that
Kindles our thoughts and desires, yet
Someday we’ll run out of fuel
So precious this makes our every move
Eyes are such fickle admirers
The new and the supple attract its gaze
Yet, I can’t imagine another body
My hands would rather touch
or my arms would rather hold
I want to feel the pleasure of your embrace
Be your comfort everyday
