"Life is a changing -We can’t sit back and expect to grow old". Due to our nation’s obsession with fear, power, greed and control, our safety and security is threatened by our meddling in the affairs of almost every nation on the planet. The majority of people being killed in the world are by our hands, those of our proxies or by weapons made by us. How can others not cynically wonder how a country who espouses freedom, democracy and peace make, use and sell so many murderous weapons?
Peace and harmony occur when people maximize and celebrate their similarities, and share their abundance. When people feel united and safe they can appreciate and interpret differences as variation and diversity and not feel these differences as a threat or a source of grave conflict.
"The kids can’t remember that freedom’s not gained by waving a flag." Freedom is gained by social movements not governments or patriotism, the best a government can do is to honor and protect the freedoms of the masses. National flags create a them at the very moment they fashion an us. Nations plant their flag as a demonstration of conquest and victory and not as gesture of goodwill and harmony.
"My eyes have seen many a tragedy, People treating freedom as personal property". Our leaders often speak of our nation fighting for freedom. Yet, a person is not free “when” they are fighting, and our recent preference for perpetual war is not conducive for freedom. Lasting freedom is not an individual possession, but an interpersonal goal and right. A nation which hoards invites theft, so let us not take more than the man on the (foreign) shore.
"Oh now let’s take hold let us kill no more No fear to take control let us kill no more. People don’t give up on your dreams of love anymore, cause People we need all of us to take a stand extending hands." We need our desire for harmony and peace to become stronger than our fears and hatred. We’ve done it before, we can do it again.
"Take hold of my hand we will walk on forever......Take, take hold of my hand."

Take Hold 6/29/87
Take hold of my hand we will walk on forever
Life is a changing
We can’t sit back and expect to grow old
The kids can’t remember that
Freedom’s not gained by waving a flag
My eyes have seen many a tragedy
People treating freedom as personal property
Oh now let’s take hold, let us kill no more
No fear to take control, let us kill no more
People don’t give up on your dreams of love anymore, ’cause
People we need all of us to take a stand extending hands
Cry out for justice
For only in tears will your anger die away
Come now take hold let your feelings show
Let’s not take more than the man on the shore
Oh now let’s take hold let us kill no more
No fear to take control let us kill no more
People don’t give up on your dreams of love anymore, cause
People we need all of us to take a stand extending hands
Take hold of my hand we will walk on forever
Take, take hold of my hand
