about

I think people often mistake physical strength for power. While men are generally physically stronger than women, I for one, feel that women have more power. The male sex drive is one of the strongest forces in nature, and it gives the female form great power. Early in adolescence waves of hormones cause boys to become preoccupied and obsess over sex and the female body (form).

We moderns have a tendency to demonize the male sex drive. Men who do not learn how to curb their passions are more often than not considered to be weak or selfish brutes. Yet, suppression and oppression of powerful drives and impulses often end up warping and perverting one’s passions, only further fueling the social mandate that men overcome and deny their inherent sexuality.

Yet, for me the male sex drive has been core to almost every exulted emotion I have. My sex drive is essential to my experience of pleasure, ecstasy, passion, joy, intimacy, connection and care. Without my sex drive many of these emotions would pale in comparison and be little more than conceptual shells with no depth and intensity.

My sex drive fuels my sense of creativity and keeps me connected to my body and others and prevents me from just living in my head. In essence, the male sex drive, places me in my body and in the world, and has me become enthralled with the preciousness of life.

Oftentimes in marriages a birth of the child has the man feel replaced by the woman's devotion to there child.

Watching her sweet baby to her lover’s gaze she is blind
The goal of her devotion is the light in her child’s eyes

While many men love their children, their passion and connection remains focused on their wife.

The master of his desire is his never aging bride
He so wants to please her the treasure of his life

Rejected and ignored men often envy their children not only the attention they get from their wife, but also the joys of childhood.

I remember times feeling free
Running fast and skinning knees
I remember endless motion
I remember days of play
Fewer now than yesterday
I remember becoming me

Yet, the joys of childhood pale in comparison to the love and intimacy obtained through making love and feeling infatuation.

I remember days of passion
Trapped in the trance of satisfaction
I remember your rosy cheeks

I remember making you glow
Having you laugh giving you hope
I remember being your center

I remember feeling infatuation
Aching so bad for your complete attention

Yet, for me it isn't about remembering or conjuring up diminished passions. For while I have aged and the urgency of my passions has subsided, I still am enthralled and infatuated with my never aging bride. She is still my center and if anything the depth of our intimacy grows with age.

I remember but that’s not all
I don’t have to remember
No I don’t have to remember
Do you?

lyrics

I Remember 3/6/10

Somewhere south of eden a man laughs at his pride
Standing in front of a mirror a woman loathes her smile

The master of his desire is his never aging bride
The goal of her devotion is the light in her child’s eyes

Parched and languid evenings plague the restless mind
Watching her sweet baby to her lover’s gaze she is blind

He so wants to please her the treasure of his life
He yearns to be the hero of his family and his wife

No matter what he does he feels so outside
His presence seems a bother his affections denied

Weak and suffocated by the weight of hubby’s needs
She turns to her children to give life meaning

I remember times feeling free
Running fast and skinning knees
I remember endless motion

I remember days of play
Fewer now than yesterday
I remember becoming me

I remember days of passion
Trapped in the trance of satisfaction
I remember your rosy cheeks

I remember making you glow
Having you laugh giving you hope
I remember being your center

I remember feeling infatuation
Aching so bad for your complete attention
I remember but that’s not all
I don’t have to remember
No I don’t have to remember
Do you?
