about

Fictional Space

There’s something of the mind - not bound to the actual but is free to explore the possible, the fictitious and the future -which plays off circumstance. It is this part of us which has us perceive that we have options in how we respond, act, feel and think.

We are free to use this gift and this potential in various way both wise and frivolous. We are able to frame and interpret our experiences in a myriad of ways and to find meaning and intimacy in the history that we invent.
This talent creates the Unencumbered one (self) to be used for strategy of evasion.

Living in the possible we quickly and seamlessly oscillate between past, present and future-- straddled on this life.

Not being tied down by the actual our Vision sees both real and possible, making our lives part reality and part fiction. Our fictional abilities make it possible for us to reflect, savor and plan thereby giving us pleasure and might.

We can and often do use this power in both creative and destructive endeavors. Those who view the world as a place to kill or be killed, Bash their enemies monstrous heads, is the survivors scheme.

Yet,. many use their freedom to see a world based on love rather than survival such Lovers engulfed in orgasmic anticipation use the world of the possible to maximize their joy and intimacy by seeking out and creating moments of deep pleasure and connection. As opposed to the lover the hunter laughs at the snap of the trap which is his way of planning and anticipating.

There’s something that’s the style which I won’t represent, It’s a feeling of denial wan discouragement. The singer of the song is declining to use his ability for fictional space in a way he sees as being popular, and as being based on a negative and defeatist attitude towards life. He see’s a tendency for people to use their ability to live in the possible as a means to flee rather than savor life.

He sees many Harlots of the soul lost in merriment. In which people use pleasure as a means of escape or as a way to exploit and manipulate others. Rather than this talent of the possible being used to deepen and enrich life he sees many of our truest Visceral drives buried by excitement.

Moments take pride in invention - living in the possible makes much or what we do an invention or a creative act. Pretty much everything we say, think and feel is a form of invention, a creative act. In fact any time you string five or six sentences together there is a very good chance that you have created a rare if not totally new and unique interaction or expression.

Yet, when faced with conflict, new circumstances or Problems they often provoke awkward hesitation breaking the natural flow of life.
We often find Solution, by looking to friendly vistas, tapping into our vast reservoir of optimistic options.

The future with all its challenges and opportunities beckons the agile dancer. Our ability to successfully navigate the actual is greatly enhanced by our ability to live in the possible.

It is hard to imagine a life devoid of the possible containing any joy and meaning. Through the beauty and wonder of Fictional space, Make me alive set me on fire, Make me alive celluloid fire.

lyrics

Fictional Space 5/31/1982

There’s something of the mind which plays off circumstance
Like a servant pampered king it can be wise or frivolous
Unencumbered one used for strategy or evasion
Place me straddled on this life

Vision gives me pleasure and might
Bash their monstrous heads, the survivors scheme
Lovers engulfed orgasmic anticipation
The hunter laughs at the snap of the trap

Fictional space

There’s something that’s the style which I won’t represent
It’s a feeling of denial wan discouragement
Harlots of the soul lost in merriment
Visceral drives buried by excitement

Moments take pride in invention
Problems provoke awkward hesitation
Solution, look to friendly vistas
The future beckons the agile dancer

Fictional space

Make me alive set me on fire
Make me alive celluloid fire
