Sometimes it gets exhausting to watch those you love getting sucked into tacitly or actively supporting the heinous acts of a leader due to patriotism, blind optimism, or political propaganda.
Those who are not being seduced into false hope or bigotry can feel very lonely and afraid and want desperately to find people who will validate and support their desire for ethical and humane action.
It's hard to stay strong when your values isolate you, or have others treat you like your just being stubborn and cynical.
Help me see the way
Help me love and play
Help me care for man
Help me make life grand
lyrics
Exhaustion 10/10/06
I do not know how to petition you
The darkness in your heart smothers the faintest spark
You give in to alibis which distract and do blame
I don’t know if you realize most boasts aim to cover shame
As you try to euthanize your recognition of other’s pain
Erase all the differences make everyone the same
Get rid of every smell convert the feral make it tame
Dispatch each question of life in the utterance of a holy name
Words are fragile game they can hide as well as display
Those you use them best look behind and beyond their common usage
You listen to the hypocrites who distract and do blame
These smug defenders of the good who smile as they foster hate
I watch the hypnotist mesmerize ply his trade
Speech writes for the government the media is his slave
His perspective is everywhere burnt deep in our brain
Creates fear and national pride makes us righteous and enraged
I walk against the stream try to resist its sway
I grow increasingly tired what is real slips away
I need someone else to help me stay strong and brave
An open heart, and open mind that relishes each day
Help me see the way
Help me love and play
Help me care for man
Help me make life grand
