Just Talking 04:56
Just Talking 2/14/06 Brad was a man with mighty big plans that never got off the ground He wanted love more than anything but ended up fooling around…..just chasing tail She’s just talking……..Shut your mouth and open your mind He thought she smiled at him She wore that sweater again She had her friends talk to him The next day at school she didn’t even look at him All those years he felt rejected, humiliated and confused Took a toll on his emotions, his true feelings he withdrew……felt like a tool She’s just talking Paints her face, eggs him on Giggles at his jokes and then flirts with Ron Telephones but says goodbye She gets his heart then screws his mind By the time he got to college he gave up being real He found he got more action when he played to seal the deal Now he’s just talking……..shut your mouth and open your mind Got them eating out of his hand, such a stud, plays to his fans With a buzz on he seems like the man, so romantic says I love you on demand Whispers I love you as he takes her hand Got a job, got a wife, tried to settle down After the birth of their first child her sex drive just wore down……life’s her child She says he doesn’t share, she says he doesn’t care, complains he’s never there …….soon they have an affair She keeps talking he keeps walking …..further away Any disclosure she attacks with shame, any tenderness she treats as a game When he offers solution she says he doesn’t listen When he says what he needs, she asks for more distance…..is it just resistance? She’s just talking, he keeps walking She keeps talking, he’s just walking away

Preening Like A Peacock 6/7/06 Preening like a peacock hormones out of control Preening like a peacock putting on the show Women find beauty in natural things Sunrise/sunset, seashores and gems Women see beauty in many things Flowers, colors, in fashion and rings She sees beauty everywhere, preening like a peacock Why is she looking way over there, preening like a peacock A woman feels beauty in every touch In satin, silks and in a baby’s flesh A woman smells beauty in every sniff In perfumes, herbs and floral scents Spending hours smelling roses or buying a new top A man sees beauty in the girl of his dreams His temptress, his partner, his goddess his queen A man finds beauty in a woman’s form A breast, a thigh, a hip bone exposed She is the goal of art She is his anchor and spark She gives the milk of life Without her he shrivels and dies A man feels beauty in the passion of curves Flowing from buttock to the small of the back A man feels completion with a woman in tow She’s his altar, his Eden, his castle and throne While I preen my feathers I feel oh so hot Every time I feel I’m pretty I hear the bubble pop Nothing pleases like a maiden in heat Itching for pleasure from her head to her feet Yet lust fades as quick as it comes From an 8 course banquet to a stick of gum In a woman’s world of beauty men don’t make the cut A few handsome faces maybe and the occasional butt But we’ll never really get it, we’ll continue to strut We’ll shake our tail feathers thinking we’re too much (we’ll strut our stuff)

Exhaustion 04:33
Exhaustion 10/10/06 I do not know how to petition you The darkness in your heart smothers the faintest spark You give in to alibis which distract and do blame I don’t know if you realize most boasts aim to cover shame As you try to euthanize your recognition of other’s pain Erase all the differences make everyone the same Get rid of every smell convert the feral make it tame Dispatch each question of life in the utterance of a holy name Words are fragile game they can hide as well as display Those you use them best look behind and beyond their common usage You listen to the hypocrites who distract and do blame These smug defenders of the good who smile as they foster hate I watch the hypnotist mesmerize ply his trade Speech writes for the government the media is his slave His perspective is everywhere burnt deep in our brain Creates fear and national pride makes us righteous and enraged I walk against the stream try to resist its sway I grow increasingly tired what is real slips away I need someone else to help me stay strong and brave An open heart, and open mind that relishes each day Help me see the way Help me love and play Help me care for man Help me make life grand

Bath of Joy 04:44
Bath of Joy 4/29/06 Life’s like a game of hide and seek we’re winners when we find The clues are there if we look, listen and divine (decide) My heart is racing when I sense an answer (is) coming to light Oh I do feel a surge of meaning as my spirit does takes flight Who can say “I found my heart”, who will say it loud? If you can say “I live my heart”, say it ever proud Bathe yourself in your joy Be a sun shining forth Share your gift with everyone Solve the puzzle make it fun People say many things that protect them from the dark Yet many times these very words push them off the mark Life is life and not a haven, predestined or a lark Seek not hide is the answer to help ignite the spark We can feel many things but only one at a time We can learn many things because we aren’t sublime Don’t vilify uncertainty Don’t demystify mystery Come alive suddenly Bathe yourself in your humanity Can you feel my heart building steam? Steeped in real life not in dream Primed to realize all our joy Life’s a prize a gift and a toy (enjoy) Sometimes freedom begets chaos throws me into fright All I fashioned is torn and cut by irration's knife Yet my bleeding gets me going I focus on the light Soon I heal from understanding life’s sensuous might Can you feel my heart building steam? Steeped in real life not in dream Primed to realize all our joy Life’s a prize a gift and a toy (enjoy) Bathe yourself in your joy Be a sun shining forth Share your gift with everyone Solve the puzzle make it fun

When Right is Wrong 10/13/06 I concede you ran the table You were right and I was wrong I admit I wasn’t able To look into the crystal ball I did not heed your skill Of bending others to your will I forgot how well you lied Telling stories day and night (that incite) You’ve no shame you little devil You feel worthy of adoring throngs You start wars and rob the cradle As you proudly bang the gong You’ve turned all upside down posed the predator as the prey Put freedom in a cage set the world aflame It’s hard to be contrite when doing right makes one wrong Hard to put up a fight when you’re feeling alone I put trust in my brothers’ thinking That he’d see right thru your bull But my trust could well prove fatal For the moon of doom is waxing full You can cheat your way to heaven Killing children of those who protest Or who wish to live their own life Who don’t feel secure ‘neath your watchful eye I can see you have the power Controlling all their heart and minds I concede you own the table We are witnesses to your suicide (genocide) You’ve turned all upside down posed the predator as the prey Put freedom in a cage set the world aflame It’s hard to be contrite when doing right makes one wrong Hard to put up a fight when you’re feeling alone If I close my eyes, and try with all of my might, I can still feel what’s real There’s not much I can say, the games rigged that way, where I won’t foster hate When wrong is viewed as right, when day becomes night, Are our tears the last thing that’s free?

Blindfold 03:58
Blindfold 8/3/06 Fumbling in the dark I rely on my senses Hear an echo back, hands become my antennae I hear what people say, their avowed intention I smell the subterfuge, I sense their misdirection Turning on the light I question what others see I need their verification and their insight into me But instead of being mirrors, many lie, scheme or dream Some take pleasure in telling stories others take advantage or flee reality Accuracy seldom gets mentioned Insecure or discreet, out of pain or ambition The truth gets abused, trashed to extinction Meaning gets hidden or cast into oblivion Trying to navigate this life blindfolded and deceived Is kind of like eating apples with no hands and no teeth The more we live together in community The more we need to trust each other get validation thru authenticity Everyone’s in motion, mostly out of fear Everyone’s in motion, running past what’s dear Everyone’s in motion, clouding what once was clear Everyone’s in motion, won’t you shed a tear What you do believe doesn’t change what happened How you choose to deceive, is what really matters Everyone’s in motion, mostly out of fear Everyone’s in motion, running past what’s dear Everyone’s in motion, clouding what once was clear Everyone’s in motion, won’t you shed a tear

After the Storm 11/22/06 There’s nothing I could have said The momentum was so far ahead Everyone was counting winnings There were no misgivings I could sense a fated turning The coming storm was churning The tempest did come at last It’s damage was swift and quite vast No one thought to salvage Lives were left in shambles Search for the missing in the rubble Do the heavy lifting fight for survival Mourn for the dead with deep respect Live on again after the storm Build a new life after the storm Remember how to smile after the storm Take pride in the new after the storm Learn what is true after the storm You are free to love again Your foolish past gives birth to new wisdom Bask in the light snuggle in the warm Cherish all the words of your lover’s support Savor the joy it’s love’s reward Feel so fortunate after the storm Singing in the night after the storm There’s nothing to fight after the storm The future’s looking bright after the storm Anchored and alive after the storm

Gaps 04:21
GAPS 3/25/06 Flowers grow on an ocean isle, never touched, never seen Martha cries in a moment of silence not quite sure what she feels It’s only time fleeting, It’s every heart beating Gustav swore in a fit of passion that his son was dead to him Lying now on a hospital gurney, he wonders if he has a grandchild or three We fill in the gaps with meaning, Tensions only sap our reason I’ve pondered long this sensorial state How to stay calm, savor not waste Feel to the core, yet move with grace Listen for the call, give nature its space Too young to love too old to hate, Terri clings to her mother’s waist Lifetimes pass in a blink of an eye, Crawling steady with precious haste I’m born again on a daily basis What I’ve learned keeps me agile and open I unwrap the gift in anticipation Of burgeoning life not just empty hoping I’m not as valiant as the martyr or the sage Sometimes I’m selfish at others I’ll fight for no gain (to end others pain) Time is the inventor of both happiness and shame Events create options as they take others away Don’t skulk about, deny or do pout, make someone shout, or rely on illusion Look in the mirror, face what you fear, embrace life so dear, Act in ways that bring deep satisfaction Be your own idol, be your own best friend Make the most of silence, let it steady your gaze Give your best to others neither judge nor blame Provide all with questions that guide them thru their maze Tend to the gaps, turn with the raps Adopt a stance that promises to fulfill you

Crashing Down 8/29/06 Her easy smile, eyes warm and engaging Yet all the while, her fragile world Comes crashing down, without a tear She drowns in silent fear No sound, no cries to hear She walks with grace, she’s faithful and doting To husband and kids, who never suspect her life’s Crashing down, in detached veneer Her surface calm, so insincere Deep seated qualms bound to appear She tells every person her life’s going great Describes beautiful children her partner as soulmate She believes optimism creates a fortunate fate Tries to think happy thoughts avoids all conflict Everything wrong in the world she blames on male aggression Still her world comes Crashing down, without a tear She drowns in silent fear No sound, no cries to hear Begins each day with affirmations says only positive things Her faith grows each day talks of cosmic interconnection She believes very strongly she’s walking the right path Yet if one never checks a map they are walking blind They may end up very lost, lose themselves and their mind And her world comes Crashing down, in detached veneer Her surface calm, so insincere Deep seated qualms bound to appear

Give 03:52
Give 11/13/06 Some view war as a part of life, like death, work and pain But war is hatred at every moment, its unnatural and insane All of life, does change and mend, every storm, soon does end Give, tend to need, end misery Ask what they want, don’t assume they want your lot The time has come for us to live in community Treat each other with respect, live honorably Power lies in the hands of men who get us to hate Who make fear their true ally, both camouflage and bait Yet I heal, and I wait, for other’s care to win the day Melt into ease, live reverently Speak honestly, seek harmony The power of love is in our hearts, fuels our self-esteem Light a candle in the dark, feed humanity Give, tend to need, end misery Ask what they want, don’t assume they want a lot Melt into ease, love tenderly Speak honestly, seek harmony Give Now give Just give and give Give

Sometimes 03:47
Sometimes 12/17/06 Sometimes silence is the answer Sometimes the deaf can have you hear Sometimes it takes a blind man to make you see Sometimes a mute will correct speech It’s not just irony that peels back the page Sometimes when hiding one shines Sometimes thru death we feel alive Sometimes sickness makes us most healthy Sometimes poverty breeds wealth At every moment we’re both idiot and sage Reading the tracks we’re hot on the trail Collecting the facts how could we fail? Connect the dots, plot the course Adapt to change don’t resist nor force Drink deep in reason The artful hunter has every sense ablaze The miracle of life’s in every breath we take Our sense of doubt sets the stage Some things we weed out others we embrace The more we learn the more we are amazed Swim deep in passion I feel my heart pound out the rhythm of the day Sometimes one thirsts while in the ocean Sometimes one hates to be free Sometimes feeling is better than emotion Sometimes sleep is what we need Each morn I look, I listen and drink in deep the day

about

A hint into the meaning of the album is subtly portrayed on the album cover. If you notice the "i" in the middle of priorities is out of line and not colorful, which makes the other letters stand out as the i disappears. So if you read it that way Priorities becomes PRIOR TIES.

Yes, our priorities are generally based on our prior ties. We what currently value and emphasize in our current life, is based on our previous connections, joys and successes. A person with their priorities in proper order is one that is spending the majority of their time and energy developing and improving their prior ties and interests.

The songs on this album all deal in one way or another with people struggling successfully or not with what most matters with themselves, their priorities. When one feels lost, empty or dissatisfied with life improvement and cure often comes in the form of paying attention to one's priorities.
