There is more than one word play involved in the title of the song. The standard term of motion sickness has been modified to be emotion sickness. Where the original motion sickness deals with a sense of nausea
induced by the motion of a car, plane or boat, the idea of emotion sickness could signify a sense of nausea created by strong emotions such as disgust.
One could also use the term emotion sickness to depict a state of mental illness such as hysteria which is fueled by powerful and distorted emotions. Yet, the term could also be any sickness which has its roots in the wear and tear of stressful emotions on one's over all health.
Yet, the writing of eMotion also shows that emotion is just the word motion with an "e" in front of it. Which begs one to ask if motion and emotion have more similarities than just letters. Well emotion does provide motion to our experience. Emotion inspires us to move, respond, react, initiate, love and fight. In many ways emotion might be viewed as a necessary component of all human action (motion).
In the first verse the volatile emotions in the family home caused the mom to flee and disconnect and her son to make intimate and healthy emotional connection with those outside the family a high priority.
The second and third verses voice some people's attempts to avert the toxic aspects of emotion sickness by fleeing their humanity and finding emotional refuge in the realms of mysticism and spiritualism. The vulgar emotions of brute humanity being replaced by an ethereal pure form of emotion.
The singer of this song has no desire to transcend or dehumanize his emotions. He instead wants to learn how to keep his emotions healthy and life affirming while remaining visceral and sensual.
The depth of emotion is felt deep inside one's body, in one's heart, in one's lungs and dances on one's skin. Empathy and love are richer when they are more than concepts and ethereal emotions but emotions which resonate and harmonize deep in your core.
According to the singer of this song, emotion sickness is often caused by excess. Some suffer emotion sickness from extreme passion and drama, others through lofty ideals and denials of personal humanity. A emotionally healthy person finds a balance between the preciousness of their own sensorial experience and their visceral connection to others and all of life.
Somewhere deep inside this life
the toucher and the touched are one
Somewhere deep inside this life
we breathe as one

lyrics
eMotion Sickness (Circle of‘ifs) 5/13/12
In the family home emotions were expressed with a megaphone
I licked my wounds while my mother bled
sought the home which she fled
a calm far from her anxious dread
Avoiding pain is the mystics game on the astral plane
orgasm with a deity
sublimates real need
overcomes one’s humanity
Feelings are for me as a human being not a fantasy
Unplugged from all desire
In the sacred some do get mired
Their bodies only fit for a funeral pyre
Sadly I walk alone with my heart
in my eyes, in the skies, in my mind
Sadly I walk alone with my heart
in my hands, in my ears, on my tongue
Sadly I walk alone with my heart,
in the land, in your tears, at your side
Sadly I walk alone with my heart,
leading me, with empathy, fusing we
Somewhere deep inside this life
lies (ticks) precious time
Somewhere deep inside this life
the toucher and the touched are one
Somewhere deep inside this life
we breathe as one
Somewhere on the edge of life
was whispered me this song
Somewhere in the time of life
was whispered me this song
