A young political activist regrets some of the outcomes of his ability to incite his peers passions to stand up to the war machine. Somehow the fight for peace loses its romantic appeal when people get injured or lose their lives for an ideal.
Can true peace be attained through fighting and waging a battle? The singer of this song is doubting if any such battle is really a defendable act, and the waging of any battle is more about being right than right action.
lyrics
DASS Army 2/12/76
I was warned of my enemy
It distorted my reality
A world of make believe
Won’t you join me there?
People running wild in the streets
Young punks bombarded by the police
Blood ridden faces yell for more
We have our cause for which we swore
I knew we had to change
Influence was well within my range
I prodded people into a rage
They were so discontent
People running wild in the streets
Young punks bombarded by the police
Blood ridden faces yell for more
We have our cause for which we swore
I didn’t know what to do
I lost control so would you
Panic stricken animals on the run
Target practice for men with guns
If I would have only thought
We wouldn’t have been so lost
My imprudence look what it cost
Everybody’s son
People running wild in the streets
Young punks bombarded by the police
Blood ridden faces yell for more
We have our cause for which we’ll die for!
