about

The song begins with a single isolated heartbeat.

A man knows that he has been chosen to be the instrument of change. Even when he walks along the street he senses that his very presence makes others anxious and afraid.

He knows not why he has been chosen and often wishes that the lord would "spare me this moment".

His thoughts are filled with biblical images and symbols. The great flood is now to be balanced by a great fire. His litany of his lineage includes the holy grail, the rock of ages, the trees of the garden of eden, and the serpent once again being used to test and punish man. And yes the garden grows out of the ashes that man was created out of and will inevitably return.

The man who listens to god speak to him announces that the westward journey of civilization will end in LA via the angry command he is destined to follow.

Though his beliefs are strong that the voice he hears is the voice of God, he wonders if this is all caused because he could never believe in something better, or in anything at all.

On the other hand maybe if he would have been able to "Feel So Alive" in his day-to-day life, he wouldn't have need to finally feel alive in the moment of his complete destruction.

The old saying states that one can not serve two masters, one wonders if one is capable of truly loving this world when praying for the next.

lyrics

Anger in LA 8/21/88

Walking past these moving shadows
They all look out to avert my gaze
When I want I hover closely
Feel their heart beat, anxiety raised

We know sanity has lost out
We know change won’t otherwise come about

Don’t stuff it now, anger in LA
Don't shut it out, anger in LA

Don’t you fear a passionate display
I only fear we have lost our way

Oh lord, anger in LA
The time has come for anger in LA

I don’t want to do it
Please lord spare me this moment

I walk a few miles, my god it’s getting late
I know you’re guiding me thru this daze
I never realized anger in LA
The westward journey ended with anger in LA

The suitcase in my hand is my only sensation
This holy grail of god resurrected
I climb the staircase, anger in LA
The room is waiting, anger in LA

Flipping the latch I assemble the solution
No bird of prey just a flash of light
Flowing thru me the rock of ages
The tree of knowledge the tree of life
The fiery serpent hisses in excitement
Only out of ashes does a garden grow
It’s only left to set the hour
Then to watch the majestic glow

I FEEL SO ALIVE, I FEEL SO ALIVE

Maybe I could never believe in something better
Maybe I could never believe in something
Anger in LA, anger in LA
