Nothing captures the feeling of opportunity lost than the death of loved ones, especially when they are young. This song depicts how precious life is and the importance of a society making quality of life its main objective and concern.
When the quality of human existence takes a back seat to other goals and values such as making money and being successful, then avoidable tragic events and human suffering can become commonplace.
In this song a man bewails the callous opportunism that occurs as his personal tragedy is becoming a news room commodity. He also wonders if the murder of his family would have been avoided if society did not find such a need to exploit people's weaknesses and addictions for commercial gain.
