Love’s Obsession

I've always been a passionate and devoted lover, in which my sense of infatuation and enthrallment never has to die. Even at the age of 23 I was aware of how unusual I was in this fashion.

I’m in love with you again
I’ve just pulled thru another cloud

The cloud was usually some blindspot I had. It could be an unwelcome family or relationship pattern that caught me unawares, or it could be an emotional conflict that prevents me from seeing things in a balanced manner.

It’s so hard to be a gent when you’re in a sweat
But I’ll need your sorrow with opened hand
I’m not much and these pangs could turn anyone off

Amidst emotional turmoil and conflict in a relationship it is hard to remain kind, compassionate and understanding. Yet, despite my feelings of frustration, anger and fear I am confident that I will approach the situation in a caring way. I also realize that my passion, insecurity and high standards can be overwhelming and alienating.

It gets so ugly when the mold gets growing
I wish you would have sprayed the house
But I fidget in the repercussions
I can see why you’re so upset
I agree with your distress

When a lover stops sharing and disclosing it can cause the relationship to suffer. Much of the conflict can have been avoided if she would have told me earlier about her feelings of dissatisfaction and frustration. Yet, now that she is speaking about her feelings I totally see the truth in all that she is saying.

Point the gun in my direction

It’s just love’s obsession
That makes you want to forget

I want her to let it all out, to not left any ill feelings undisclosed. In the end the quality of our intimacy and the long term success of our relationship are dependent on honesty. Despite this reality, most couples refrain from honesty to prevent each other from walking away.

I'm a simple man with little ambition, who puts love and intimacy above all else. I can commit to be caring, and to enjoy the very act of being with and sharing with each other. I'm not big on romance, because I find the visceral reality of passion far more enticing and satisfying then dream and abstract feeling.

If we keep in mind and live what is important in a relationship we will be OK. Passion, intimacy and doing our best to find joy in each others presence is central to my remaining happy and loving. Yet, I know that my obsession with intimacy can be as tiring as it can be fulfilling.
