How does one avoid their love from becoming faded or jaded? If one's commitment to the relationship is based on staying together and not going astray the love and intimacy of a relationship can still fade. One can easily stay committed and dedicated to a relationship that has become passionless and stale. One's emotional investment can go elsewhere such as in having a successful career, developing hobbies and interests, or in the life of their children being the highest priority.
It's hard to remain "ecstatic" about a relationship that lacks the frequent experience of ecstasy. On the other hand it is difficult for a passion and ecstasy based love to fade or become jaded. If one's commitment is to a relationship steeped in playful passion and emotionally invested intimacy than it is possible to have one's love remain vivid, fresh and deeply emblazoned into one's heart.
A couple wishing to maximize the potential of their relationship should strive to keep the relationship potent. The potency of a relationship is housed in playful passion and in keeping in touch with the visceral dynamic life energy (élan vital) which lies at the core of our desire to share our lives with someone.
Love like everything in life is as much about how you do things as what you do. Passion is as much an attitude as an act. We are all responsible to keep the love in our life from fading and becoming jaded.
