The beloved becomes our anchor and the center of one’s life. They become our island, our refuge and a raft for us to rest on as we gently bounce on the ocean waves. We become in synch with the very rhythm of their body which fills our life with comfort and our minds with endless pleasant thoughts and daydreams.
We wish that this state could be endless where the beloved shows us love and give us pleasure. At times it does seem endless as day after day we are filled with a sense of contentment. Passionate love making gives way to satiation and calm which leads to appreciation which once again rises to a level of passion. The cycle of passion, contentment and attraction rises and falls like the waves in the ocean. The endless dance of intimacy fills us and makes all other experience richer, more vivid, and more sensually pleasing.
The task of life becomes forgotten and is replaced by appreciation and gratitude. The sun is brighter and warmer, the fruit we eat is sweeter and juicier and the love we feel is more rewarding and pervasive. This is the world which Dance for Me tried to capture.
The song starts with the beloved being a simple little bass line. Soon the bass line is bobbing in the ocean waves created by the island rhythm of guitar, drums, and marimba. The sax soothes and wails and the song goes through the cycle of contentment, attraction and passion.
Each section of the song portrays a few facets of the ever evolving cycle of pleasure, passion and intimacy that the very presence of the beloved spawns in their lover. Yes, "move like lightning my beloved and I will provide the thunder", and then we can bask in the waves of contentment and wait for the next burst of passion to take us on our next intimate journey, our next ecstatic dance…….
