about

This is a song inviting everyone to Come On In and enjoy all the wonders of Mortal Joy.

Fear and inhibitions can limit our appreciation of life and even cause us to seek ultimate truth or alternative realities in science and religion.

Looking at life thru the eyes of fear
Faith, greed and beliefs we treasure so dear
Infinite life our goal sincere
The spiritualist and scientist cloud as they clear

Yet, it is only through our physical, emotional and intellectual limits that experience becomes a livable reality. And doesn't the potential to grow, learn and become intimately knowledgeable and connected to all that exists make it all worth it.

The limits we strive hard to overcome
Make life possible are its total sum
Why is being human such a bad gig?
What’s so wrong with life as it is?

I thirst it all, the fat and the thin
A moment of failure breeds the chance to win

The song then goes on to compare and contrast the relative merits of transcendence versus those acquired through all the trials and errors of accepting life on its own terms. I personally find more meaning by focusing my attention inside of life rather than beyond it. I'd rather touch and embrace the world at my fingertips than spend my time imagining a world beyond the edges of the universe.

I just want to dance, I just want to swim
I just want to laugh, I just have to grin
I’m so excited by the challenge within
I’m so delighted to take it all in

Life has its inevitable pains and challenges which test our resolve and endurance. Yet, for those willing to engage in the labor of planting seeds there is also the promise of an abundant harvest. We can sate and unfold all of our appetites and passions, again and again. We can share, disclose and become enthralled with the preciousness and wonder of being alive and having experiences.

I beckon you to find the courage to stay here and not feel a need to run away for I truly would enjoy the company.

So come on in

lyrics

Come on In April 21, 2005

Looking at life thru the eyes of fear
Faith, greed and beliefs we treasure so dear
Infinite life our goal sincere
The spiritualist and scientist cloud as they clear
The limits we strive hard to overcome
Make life possible are its total sum
Why is being human such a bad gig?
What’s so wrong with life as it is?
I thirst it all, the fat and the thin
A moment of failure breeds the chance to win

Alert I see the storm about to come
But to this the infinite seekers are deaf and dumb
Fleeing the body that houses our joy
The truth seekers feel all in a senseless void
Spirit is fine for those in denial
Or for who life’s an illusion a tragic exile
I prefer to swim in the sea of sensation
Feast on the simple pleasures of history and anticipation
Without some friction there’s no mountain to climb
A sense of accomplishment gives me reason to smile

I just want to dance, I just want to swim
I just want to laugh, I just have to grin
I’m so excited by the challenge within
I’m so delighted to take it all in

Feel the magic in the coarseness of the fabric
Breathe in deep the elixir of a lilac
Linger a moment on the sadness of a memory
Gaze awhile at the blueness of our canopy
Touch my life with the power of a dream
Guide my hand to release a basic need
Dazzle me with something that you noticed
Patterns never cease to amaze me

I’m so excited by the challenge within
I’m so delighted to take it all in

I just want to dance, I just want to swim
I just want to laugh, I just have to grin (come on in)
