Come Alive exhorts you to embrace your humanity. Come Alive asks you to question any belief system, ideology or spiritual practice which insults, vilifies, denigrates or asks you to deny your body, emotions or ego.
Many mouths claim life’s a mystery
Then they quickly unmask all uncertainty
While telling me the ego’s a slave to stupidity
But what is it that is speaking to me?
Who is it making my self discoveries?
That wakes the unconscious or unriddles my dreams
I’ve never understood the soul or its immortality
For me it destroys life’s integrity
Does your belief system encourage you to hate or kill others in order to love or be a good person? Does your spiritual system view the body as a burden or life itself as an illusion? Are you expected to transcend or overcome your attachments and ties to the world to enter a superior reality?
I’ve no need to run from life or fashion a reprieve
There’s no disgrace in feeling all with deep intensity
I’m so in awe of the way we make a world
Sew a quilt of love which we forever unfurl
Come Alive beckons you to maximize the moment through the joy and intimacy that comes with thinking, feeling and sensing in a life affirming manner.
Sensation is the river which spawns meaning
For every thought is part fact part feeling
My body is the vessel supreme
My mind is the captain of me
Come Alive is not about hope, certainty, perfection, or social utopia, it i about enjoying the process of becoming wiser, more intimate and more at home with oneself, others and the fleeting privilege of being alive.
lyrics
Come Alive 11/26/07
Tired rays of hope clash with destiny
Many mouths claim life’s a mystery
Then they quickly unmask all uncertainty
While telling me the ego’s a slave to stupidity
But what is it that is speaking to me?
Who is it making my self discoveries?
That wakes the unconscious or unriddles my dreams
I’ve never understood the soul or its immortality
For me it destroys life’s integrity
I’ve no need to run from life or fashion a reprieve
There’s no disgrace in feeling all with deep intensity
I’m so in awe of the way we make a world
Sew a quilt of love which we forever unfurl
Tiresome rays of hope clash with reality
Spirit is a repugnant fantasy
For it removes us from where we need to be
Every sound every sight is more than potential memory
It is the fabric which swathes our sense of being
Sensation is the river which spawns meaning
For every thought is part fact part feeling
My body is the vessel supreme
My mind is the captain of me
I’ve no need to run from life or fashion a reprieve
There’s no disgrace in feeling life with deep intensity
I’m so in awe of the way we make a world
Sew a quilt out of life which we forever unfurl
Be alive, breathe deep and feel so mellow
Experience life, our eyes can see for miles
Come alive, our hands can defeat shadows
Feel alive, our hearts can unite egos
Feel alive, spring explodes with a waft of lilac
Come alive, a brisk wind and my skin awakens
Be alive, our hearts can untie tangles
Come alive, run thru the meadow swim in the water so clear
And so dear
