about

While spring is a time of birth and the lushness of life, late fall and early winter are a time to appreciate the simple stark beauty of unadorned life. It is a time often filled with deep reflection and a call to retreat into the warmth and security of one's home.

The day was raw and grey as was my mind
The leaves had fallen from the trees leaving just their spines
I walked in silence in the expanding gloom
Instead of feeling sad, I felt ensconced in a womb

Thoughts on the cycle of life and the seasons lead into the inevitability of death and with that an increase appreciation of the preciousness and fragility of life.

I realize I will one day die
That this life will pass me by
The smell of a moment transports me there
To a bittersweet child longing to share

Without death life would lack definition. Death is the punctuation point ending the sentence of life and endowing it with meaning and profound significance. The prospect of the finality of death motivates us to maximize each moment we think, sense and feel beckoning us to enjoy the precious gift of life.

Don’t waste my time with belief or mythic truth
There is so much right here to feel and do
I’m lucky to spend my hours living with you
Using our eyes, ears, hands and voices to imbue

We don't just live, but we are also privileged to be self-aware of all that we experience. Our sense of personal history deepens and enriches life and has us find poignant joy in our ability to share our lives with others.

Memories give me history fill my life at its core
Memories help me build my nest are my shelter and floor
Holding you is like glistening gold makes me glad to be getting older

I don’t know what life has in store
I only know I want so much more
I don’t know what will come on next
But I’ll treat all life with respect

Each day our lives can grow in intimacy, understanding and wisdom. The goal of life is for intimacy to expand and expand until we become sated and the mere thought of eating one more morsel of life becomes unimaginable.

A work of art, like our lives, is deemed complete when we decide that it cannot be improved upon through any additional effort. At such a time

Growth in wisdom, understanding and intimacy occur when we become closer and more familiar with ourselves, nature and others. The more intimate we become the smaller the gap separating ourselves from that which we feel and experience.

While not every person can escape a tragic or sudden ending to their life it is still a noble of treasured goal for exit this life with a sense of completion and satisfaction. I aspire to leave this world when the gap between necessary for intimacy to occur is bridged and I fuse and merge into the very fabric of existence.

Each day my heart fills up, warms my insides
One day my heart will explode……… and I will die
One day I will overload…….. and I will die
One day I will drown in love…….. and I will die

The song of an owl its mournful cry
Sense tingles thru my flesh both calm and wild

I don’t know what will come on next
But I’ll treat all life with respect
