Life is a carnival a fascinating spectacle in which we are both performers and audience. The human drama, to those who appreciate it, is both captivating and poignant.
Musically the lilting of the calliope captures the bizarre and enchanting feel of the fair or circus. These venues have often been the standard meeting place to be introduced to and entertained by the strange, different, unique and oddly talented.
I am fond of saying that in the entire universe there is nothing more wondrous than human existence. We should all enjoy, appreciate and relish the small role and fleeting time we are allotted. It is incumbent upon us to judiciously use this opportunity to both develop our own unique gifts and applaud the various talents of our contemporaries.
lyrics
Carnival 7/4/08
Life is a carnival
A merry-go-round slowly spinning for me
There are wonders at every turn
Novel and talented people smiling
Here's to the people who play hard
Here's to the people who take time to care
Everyday is a party
Everyday is a walk at the fair
Come waltz a number with me
Gliding in step we fashion our own world
There is magic in melody
Poetry, love and sweetest harmony
Both performers and watchers are we
Take a bow before clapping
I'll be your audience
A good fan cheering
Then I'll bask in your applause
Life is a carnival
A merry-go-round slowly spinning for me
There are wonders at every turn
Novel and talented people smiling
